Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Salary: £28,641 – £30,201 FTE (£24,744 – £26,092 Pro Rata)
Start Date: September 2025
Are you a skilled and enthusiastic teaching assistant looking to progress your career and make a meaningful difference in students’ education? The Supply Register is working in partnership with an excellent secondary school in Eastbourne, part of the Swale Academies Trust, to recruit a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their dynamic and supportive team.
As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting and delivering teaching and learning activities. Working closely with qualified teachers, your responsibilities will include:

Planning, preparing, and delivering tailored learning activities to individuals, small groups, and whole classes.

Monitoring, assessing, and reporting on student progress and development.

Adapting lesson plans and teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs.

Providing targeted support to students with additional needs, including those with SEN, EAL, or those who are gifted and talented.

Supporting students’ emotional and social well-being.

Undertaking occasional short-term class cover as required.

Collaborating with teaching staff, specialists, and external agencies to support student progress.
We’re looking for someone who:

Has GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science at grade C or above.

Has proven experience supporting children in a school or educational setting.

Demonstrates strong communication skills with individuals, groups, and whole classes.

Understands the national curriculum and can support its implementation effectively.

Has sound knowledge of child development and behaviour management strategies.

Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Shows initiative, adaptability, and a team-oriented approach.
