Out of Hours Club Manager and Trust Lead

Salary scale: dependent on candidate and agreed responsibilities

Working hours: Spilt shift, morning and afternoon shift working hours would be 7:30-9:00am and 3:15-6:00pm subject to change

Academy/department: St. Chad’s C of E Primary School, with travel to other academies

Responsible to: Headteacher

Nature of contract: 38 weeks per year plus days required for holiday clubs – to be confirmed upon successful appointment of the role.

 

Are you an experienced out-of-hours club manager looking for your next challenge? The Supply Register is proud to be working with a multi-academy trust in the West Yorkshire region as a managed provider; We are recruiting for this role exclusively and are looking for an experienced, passionate and dedicated individual with previous experience in managing out-of-hours school activities that enrich and nurture a child’s development and school experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the out-of-hours provision across the entire trust, including holiday clubs, leading a team of staff, managing the number of children attending the provision and working with academies within the trust to ensure effective out-of-hours provisions are in place.

 

Role Requirements

Academy responsibilities

• Planning a wide variety of activities, for both the short and long term, to stimulate and support children’s intellectual, emotional, physical, social, language and play development.

• Ensuring the club is appropriately resourced (including provision of food) identifying equipment needs and working within an identified budget.

• Deploying the time and skills of adults to offer each child the attention, stimulus and support that will ensure opportunities for continuity and progression in play.

• Ensuring that all activities reflect positively the linguistic, religious and cultural diversity of the community.  

• Ensuring the National standards for Day Care and Out of School Clubs are adhered to and preparing for OFSTED inspections.  Planning for and implementing any actions from inspections and ensuring compliance with legislation.

• Listening to, encouraging, enabling, stimulating the children and ensuring their safe keeping.

• Ensuring the provision of good quality, nutritious and attractive food for the children prepared according to set standards of hygiene.

• Administer, monitor and evaluate the number of places being used in order to maintain sustainability and the efficient running of the club.  

• Act as the Child Protection Co-ordinator working with other professionals including the school, Education Leeds and external agencies, in the identification and monitoring of child abuse and the management of the appropriate care programmes ensuring that the Leeds guidelines for Child Protection are adhered to.

• Ensure Health and Safety Procedures are implemented to ensure a safe environment for children and adults using the service, including first aid, food hygiene and general maintenance.

• Support the induction for new staff members, and the supervision and performance management of staff members.  

• Assist with the advance collection of fees, invoicing and maintaining records.  Assist with ensuring that the financial regulations are adhered to.

• Where appropriate, liaise with local schools and colleges regarding student placements.

• Be responsible for own professional development.

• Ensuring that any information relating to children, their families, governors and staff which are learnt as part of the job is kept confidential.

• Building and maintaining positive and professional relationships with parents and carers and to encourage parental involvement in the school.

• To organise and participate in interesting and appropriate educational visits for children and families observing health and safety policies and making risk assessments.  

• To actively promote and support policies on equal opportunities and to ensure the service functions in an anti-oppressive and non-discriminatory manner.  

• To take responsibility for the securing of the building and resources.  

• To take responsibility for a group of children during any building evacuation.

Trust Lead responsibilities

• To maintain oversight of the out-of-hours provisions across our Trust, ensuring Trust standards and regulatory frameworks are being adhered to and that the provisions are of highest quality.  

• To recognise and implement opportunities for developing the provisions, including holiday clubs, working alongside the other provision managers.

• To take advantage of economies of scale through coordination of processes and purchasing of equipment for example.

• To oversee development of teams. 

• To work with finance and business managers to ensure financial regulations are adhered to and that the provisions are operating effectively.

MAT responsibilities

• Contribute to the overall aims and values of the academy and Trust, appreciate and support the roles of other members of the wider team and attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.  

• Comply with all academy and Trust policies and procedures including child protection, safeguarding, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to the appropriate person.

• To safeguard and promote the welfare of children for whom you have responsibility, or come into contact, including adhering to all specified procedures.

• To promote and adhere to principles underpinning equalities in terms of employment and service delivery to ensure that colleagues are treated, and services deliver, in a fair and consistent manner.

–            First Aid paediatric qualification or a willingness to undertake.

–            Understanding of varied needs of children and carers.

–            Knowledge of child development and needs across primary age group.

–            Experience of working in a childcare or play work setting.

–            UK Driving licence/access to vehicle and willingness to travel to schools within the trust.

–            Ability to maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.

–            Comply with the Trust’s commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children.

Desirable Requirements

–            Level 3 early years educator.

–            Experience of supporting budget management.

–            Experience of managing a childcare provision.
