The Supply Register are proud to be working in partnership with The Pinnacle Trust schools, to recruit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a low/non-verbal student. This position is to start on the 17th November and will continue until the end of the academic year.
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and skilled individual who can make a real difference to a child’s educational experience and personal development. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team to ensure the pupil is fully supported to access learning and thrive in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide consistent 1:1 support for a non-verbal student within the classroom and during school activities.

Use alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC devices) to aid understanding and expression.

Support the student’s social, emotional, and academic development in line with their EHCP targets.

Assist the class teacher in planning and adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.

Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to the SENCO and teaching team.

Promote inclusion, independence, and confidence within the learning environment.
Requirements
-
Previous experience supporting children with special educational needs, particularly non-verbal or communication-based needs.

Knowledge or experience of PECS, Makaton, or similar communication systems (desirable).

A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).

Strong communication skills, empathy, and a nurturing approach.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one via The Supply Register).
