About the Role
The Supply Register is proud to be working in partnership with Beckfoot Trust to recruit a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to support pupils at Hazelbeck School.
Hazelbeck School is a specialist provision for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), alongside complex needs including autism, sensory impairments, and communication needs.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education, where you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex needs to access learning, develop communication, and achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD
- Support pupils’ EHCP targets and personalised learning programmes
- Assist with a range of communication strategies, including PECS, Makaton, and other alternative communication systems
- Support sensory-based learning activities and engagement
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and wellbeing
- Assist with personal care and physical support needs where required
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children or adults with PMLD or complex SEN needs (education, care, or support settings)
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- A willingness to support personal care and medical needs
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
