⚙️ Manufacturing Engineering Lecturer

Location: Northumberland College – Ashington Campus (moving to the new Wansbeck Campus upon opening)
Contract: up until christmas break, could be extended
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay: £24.43 – £42.03 per hour including holiday pay

We are currently recruiting a Manufacturing Engineering Lecturer to support Northumberland College on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing engineering professional or lecturer to join the college at the start of the new academic year and support learners studying a range of manufacturing and production engineering programmes.

The Role

As a Manufacturing Engineering Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across manufacturing engineering disciplines, helping learners develop the technical skills, knowledge, and behaviours required for further study and employment within modern manufacturing environments.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering Manufacturing Engineering lessons to FE students across Level 3 and potentially Higher Education programmes
• Teaching both practical and theoretical subjects including manufacturing processes, machining, measurement and inspection, engineering maths, health and safety, and engineering communications
• Supporting learners in developing workshop skills including bench fitting, hand tool usage, milling and turning principles
• Delivering content relating to mechanical and electromechanical manufacturing systems
• Planning, preparing, and assessing learning in line with curriculum requirements
• Supporting learners with target setting, progress reviews, and achievement of qualifications
• Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate student records
• Promoting safe working practices and industry standards within workshop and classroom environments

What We’re Looking For

• A Level 5 qualification in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline
• Level 5 teaching qualification (essential for the temporary role)
• Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent)
• Strong industry experience within manufacturing, production, or mechanical engineering environments
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining operations, measurement and inspection techniques, workshop practice, and engineering health and safety
• Experience delivering practical and theoretical engineering training
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Ability to motivate and support learners to achieve their goals
• Level 3 Assessor qualification (desirable)
• Enhanced DBS Child Workforce and Child Barred List check (essential)
