LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT / TA WANTED – SYLVESTER SCHOOL, HUYTON
Location: Sylvester School, Huyton
Role: Learning Support Assistant / Teaching Assistant
Start Date: 2nd November
Pay: £90 per day
Position: 1:1 Classroom Support
Are you a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant with a fully enhanced DBS on the Update Service? This is the perfect role for you at Sylvester School, Huyton, supporting students on a 1:1 basis in the classroom!
The Supply Register is seeking a caring, patient and dedicated Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant to support pupils at Sylvester School, Huyton, starting on 2nd November.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about education and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and reach their full potential in a supportive school environment.
THE ROLE
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated one-to-one support for pupils in the classroom.
- Supporting pupils with their learning, development and daily classroom activities.
- Working closely with the class teacher to support lesson delivery.
- Helping pupils access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
- Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
- Supporting pupils’ social, emotional and communication development.
- Adapting activities to meet individual learning needs.
- Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Building positive relationships with pupils and school staff.
- Following safeguarding procedures and school policies.

Relevant experience may include:
- Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
- Teaching Assistant (TA)
- SEN Teaching Assistant
- One-to-One Teaching Assistant
- Behaviour Support Assistant
- Classroom Support Assistant
- Experience supporting pupils with additional needs
✅ REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience working in a school or supporting children is desirable.
- A fully enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
- A patient, caring and understanding approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
- Confidence supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis.
- A proactive, flexible and supportive attitude.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
DBS REQUIREMENT
Candidates must meet all relevant safeguarding requirements before commencing work. Enhanced DBS certificates and Update Service status will be subject to verification.
PAY AND OPPORTUNITY
£90 per day
Start Date: 2nd November
