Land-Based Engineering Lecturer
Location: Northumberland College – Kirkley Hall Campus
Contract: Temporary, until permanent vacancies are filled
Hours: 37 hours per week (24 teaching hours, 13 planning and marking hours)
Pay: £24.43 – £42.03 per hour including holiday pay

We are currently recruiting a Land-Based Engineering Lecturer to support Northumberland College at the Kirkley Hall Campus. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced lecturers, agricultural engineers, and land-based engineering professionals with a passion for supporting students within a Further Education environment.
The Role
As a Land-Based Engineering Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across land-based engineering programmes, helping learners develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed to succeed within the agricultural and land-based engineering sector.
Key responsibilities include:
• Delivering Land-Based Engineering lessons to FE students
• Teaching agricultural machinery servicing and maintenance, engines, transmissions and drivelines, hydraulics, vehicle electrics, fabrication, workshop practices, diagnostics, and machinery operation
• Planning, preparing, and assessing learning in line with curriculum requirements
• Supporting learners with target setting, progress reviews, and achievement of qualifications
• Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate student records
• Promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity, and professional standards within the classroom
What We’re Looking For
• Experience teaching Land-Based Engineering within a Further Education setting or significant industry experience within agricultural engineering
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Ability to motivate and support learners to achieve their goals
• Relevant Land-Based Engineering or Agricultural Engineering qualification
• Level 5 teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one (desirable)
• Level 2 or equivalent in English & Maths
• Experience working with tractors, combine harvesters, agricultural machinery, hydraulic systems, vehicle electrics, diagnostics, and modern agricultural technology
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
