Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Lightcliffe Primary School, Halifax

Contract: Supply – Day‑to‑Day, Short‑Term & Long‑Term

Start Date: ASAP

The Supply Register is recruiting an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support Lightcliffe Primary School in Halifax. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident, proactive practitioner who can deliver lessons, lead interventions and support pupils across the primary phase.

Lightcliffe Primary is a welcoming, community‑focused school with high expectations for behaviour, learning and pupil wellbeing. We are seeking someone who can make an immediate impact and contribute positively to the school’s supportive environment.

About the Role

As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering pre‑planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher

  • Leading small‑group interventions and targeted support

  • Providing 1:1 support where required

  • Assisting with behaviour management and pupil engagement

  • Supporting teachers with planning, assessment and classroom routines

  • Helping maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • HLTA qualification or strong TA experience with proven cover experience

  • Confidence delivering lessons independently

  • Strong behaviour management skills

  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities

  • A proactive, flexible and supportive approach

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
