Kitchen Assistant – Sparkbrook, Birmingham
Location: Sparkbrook, Birmingham
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Long-term temporary
Working Pattern: Monday – Friday
We are currently recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant to join a school in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, on a long-term basis, starting ASAP.
The successful candidate will support the school’s catering team with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and health and safety.
Working Hours

Monday: 8:45am – 2:45pm
-
Tuesday: 9:45am – 2:45pm
-
Wednesday: 9:45am – 2:45pm
-
Thursday: 9:45am – 2:45pm
-
Friday: 8:00am – 12:00pm
Key Responsibilities
-
Assisting with food preparation and service
-
Supporting the catering team with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
-
Washing up and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen
-
Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas
-
Assisting with stock and deliveries as required
-
Following food hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times

Supporting with other general kitchen duties as required
Requirements
-
Previous kitchen or catering experience is desirable
-
Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health and safety
-
Reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team
-
Ability to work in a busy school kitchen environment

Previous experience working within a school environment would be advantageous
Safeguarding & Compliance
As this is a school-based role, all candidates will be required to successfully complete Supply Register’s full vetting and compliance process prior to commencing work, including:

Enhanced DBS check – candidates on the DBS Update Service are preferred
