School Caretaker Required – Plymouth
Location: Plymouth
Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: To be confirmed
The Supply Register is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming school in Plymouth for an experienced School Caretaker.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous caretaking, premises or site management experience to join a supportive school environment. The role is initially temporary, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and/or locking the school site as required.
- Carrying out routine maintenance of the school buildings and grounds.
- Undertaking minor repairs, including changing light bulbs, basic plumbing, painting, decorating and general DIY.
- Maintaining the school grounds, ensuring they remain safe, clean and presentable.
- Emptying bins, litter picking and assisting with general cleaning duties where required.
- Moving furniture, equipment and deliveries around the school.
- Monitoring stock levels of cleaning and site supplies.
- Liaising with and overseeing contractors working on site.
- Carrying out routine site inspections and reporting any maintenance issues.
- Supporting the school in maintaining high standards of health, safety and security.
- Working in line with safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant or Site Manager is desirable.
- School-based experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Practical DIY and maintenance skills.
- A proactive and reliable approach to work.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Two satisfactory references covering the last two years of employment.
- Right to work in the UK.
