Are you an experienced Catering Assistant looking for your next opportunity within an education setting?
The Supply Register is currently recruiting on behalf of Southwark College, part of NCG, for a reliable, enthusiastic and experienced Catering Assistant / Kitchen Porter to join their catering team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for food, excellent kitchen skills and experience working within a school, college or similar educational environment.
Please note: This is an immediate start opportunity. Applicants must hold a valid DBS certificate registered on the Update Service.
The Role
As a Catering Assistant / Kitchen Porter, you will play an important role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the college’s catering facilities.
Your responsibilities will include:

Assisting with the preparation and serving of food and beverages.
-
Maintaining a clean, tidy and hygienic kitchen and catering environment.
-
Washing dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment.
-
Supporting the kitchen team with general food preparation and service duties.
-
Ensuring food hygiene and health and safety standards are consistently maintained.
-
Providing friendly and professional service to students, staff and visitors.
-
Supporting the wider catering team during busy service periods.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
-
Has previous experience working as a Catering Assistant, Kitchen Porter or in a similar kitchen-based role.

Has experience working within a school, college or educational setting.
-
Has a good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health and safety.
-
Is reliable, hardworking and able to work well as part of a team.
-
Has a positive attitude and a willingness to get stuck in.
-
Has excellent communication and customer service skills.
-
Holds a valid DBS certificate registered on the Update Service.
Barista experience would be highly desirable, although this is not essential.
