️ Catering Assistant
Location: Northumberland College – Kirkley Hall Campus
Contract: Temporary
Duration: ASAP – 18th December
Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 2:00pm (Term Time Only)
Pay: £13.68 – £16.00 per hour including holiday pay (depending on experience)

We are currently recruiting a Catering Assistant to support Northumberland College at the beautiful Kirkley Hall Campus. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with catering, café, hospitality, or customer service experience to join a friendly team within a Further Education environment.
The Role
As a Catering Assistant, you will support the day-to-day operation of the college catering facilities, helping to provide an excellent service to students, staff, and visitors.
Key responsibilities include:
• Assisting with food preparation and service
• Serving customers in a professional and friendly manner
• Operating tills and handling cash transactions
• Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness
• Cleaning catering equipment, kitchen, and dining areas
• Supporting the wider catering team during busy periods
• Following food safety, allergen, and health & safety procedures
• Contributing to a welcoming and professional customer experience
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience working within a catering, café, hospitality, or food service environment
• Cash handling and till operation experience
• A flexible and reliable approach to work
• A cheerful, friendly, and professional manner
• Smart appearance and excellent customer service skills
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively without direct supervision
• Level 2 Food Safety or Food Allergen qualification (desirable)
• DBS in place or willingness to undergo relevant checks
