️ Estates Technician
Location: Northumberland College – Ashington Campus
Contract: Temporary until christmas, could be extended
Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week (shift pattern)
Pay: £14.00 – £17.00 per hour including holiday pay (depending on experience)

We are currently recruiting an Estates Technician to support Northumberland College at the Ashington Campus. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estates, maintenance, facilities or building services professional to join a busy estates team within a Further Education environment.
The Role
As an Estates Technician, you will support the day-to-day operation, maintenance and upkeep of the college estate, ensuring buildings, facilities and grounds remain safe, secure and fit for purpose for students, staff and visitors.
Key responsibilities include:
• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across college buildings and facilities
• Undertaking basic repairs and general maintenance tasks
• Supporting the safe operation and security of the campus
• Assisting with room setups, events and campus activities as required
• Reporting faults and escalating maintenance issues where necessary
• Supporting contractors working on site and ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the estate
• Contributing to a safe, welcoming and professional environment for learners and staff
Shift Pattern
You will work on a rotating shift pattern:
Early Shift
• 6:00am – 2:00pm
Late Shift
• Monday & Wednesday: 10:30am – 6:30pm
• Tuesday & Thursday: 1:30pm – 9:30pm
• Friday: 11:00am – 6:30pm
Initially, the successful candidate will rotate between one week of early shifts and one week of late shifts.
Once the Estates Team reaches full staffing levels, a day shift (8:00am – 4:00pm) may also be introduced into the rotation.
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience within estates, maintenance, facilities, caretaking or building services
• Good practical maintenance and repair skills
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a workplace environment
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Flexible approach to working hours and shift patterns
• A proactive and reliable attitude
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)
