Location: Durham
Contract: Temporary, ongoing until a permanent member of staff is recruited
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Rate: £24.43 – £42.03 per hour with holiday pay

We are currently recruiting a Civil Engineering / Technical Construction Lecturer to support New College Durham. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced lecturers or industry professionals looking to share their expertise and make a difference in Further Education.

The Role

As a Civil Engineering / Technical Construction Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and industry-focused lessons that develop learners’ technical knowledge, practical skills and understanding of modern construction and civil engineering practices.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering Civil Engineering and Technical Construction courses across a range of levels
• Planning and delivering engaging lessons that support learner achievement and progression
• Teaching industry-relevant topics including construction technology, surveying, site management and civil engineering principles
• Assessing learner progress and providing constructive feedback to support development
• Preparing learners for employment, apprenticeships and further study within the construction sector
• Promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity and professional standards at all times

What We’re Looking For

• A qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Studies or a related discipline
• Experience teaching Civil Engineering, Construction or related technical subjects, or significant industry experience
• Teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong technical knowledge of current construction industry practices and standards
• Experience within Further Education, apprenticeships or work-based learning environments (desirable)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
