Art & Design Lecturer
Tyne Metropolitan College | 19.5 hours per week | Temporary until the end of the academic year | Via The Supply Register
The Supply Register are delighted to be working in partnership with Tyne Metropolitan College to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Art & Design Lecturer to join their Professional and Creative Studies team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Art & Design professional to inspire learners, develop creative talent and deliver engaging teaching across a range of traditional and digital disciplines.
The role is based at Tyne Metropolitan College and will be for 19.5 hours per week, continuing until the end of the current academic year.
About the Role
As an Art & Design Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across a range of disciplines, which may include:
- 3D Design
- Painting and Drawing
- Illustration
- Fashion
- Photography
- Fine Art
- Printmaking
- Digital and traditional creative processes
You will support learners to develop their creative and technical skills, achieve their full potential and prepare for progression into higher education, industry and creative careers.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Excellent subject knowledge in Art & Design
- A passion for inspiring and supporting learners
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong administration and IT skills
- A flexible and positive approach to teaching
- A commitment to continuing professional development
- Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies within Art & Design
Experience of working with employers, external agencies or industry partners would be advantageous, as would strong knowledge of both digital and traditional Art & Design techniques.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should ideally have:
- A degree or relevant professional qualification in Art & Design
- A recognised teaching qualification
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above) or equivalent
- Successful teaching and/or relevant vocational or industry experience
- Strong industry links and employer contacts
Experience of teaching at Higher Education level, embedding English and Maths within the curriculum, preparing learners for industry briefs, or showcasing learners’ work would also be desirable.
