Plumbing Lecturer
Location: Sunderland College – HICSA Campus
Contract: Temporary
Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay: £24.43 – £42.03 per hour including holiday pay

We are currently recruiting a Plumbing Lecturer to support Sunderland College at the HICSA Campus. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced plumbers and plumbing professionals who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and supporting learners within a Further Education environment.
The Role
As a Plumbing Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across plumbing programmes, helping learners develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed to succeed within the construction industry.
Key responsibilities include:
• Delivering Plumbing lessons to FE students and apprentices
• Planning, preparing, and assessing learning in line with curriculum requirements
• Teaching both practical workshop-based sessions and classroom theory
• Supporting learners with target setting, progress reviews, and achievement of qualifications
• Monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate student records
• Promoting safe working practices and industry standards within practical environments
• Supporting learners in developing employability and technical skills
• Promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity, and professional standards within the classroom
What We’re Looking For
• A minimum Level 3 Plumbing qualification
• At least 3 years’ hands-on industry experience as a plumber
• Level 2 Maths and English (or equivalent)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to motivate and support learners to achieve their goals
• Previous teaching experience is desirable but not essential
• Experience mentoring, training, supervising apprentices, or supporting colleagues would be advantageous
• A genuine interest in working with young people and helping them develop their careers
• Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (desirable)
• Enhanced DBS Child Workforce and Barred List check (or willingness to obtain)
