English GCSE and Functional Skills Teacher

Contract: Full-time / Part-time (flexible)

The Supply Register is inviting expressions of interest from qualified and enthusiastic English teachers to support Further Education settings in West Lancashire. We partner with local colleges and training providers to help them find dedicated permanent and long-term teaching staff to deliver high-quality English education.
About the Role:
As an English GCSE and Functional Skills teacher, you will:

Deliver engaging and effective lessons in GCSE English and Functional Skills English, tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners

Plan, prepare, and assess students’ work in line with awarding body requirements
-
Provide clear, constructive feedback to help learners develop essential reading, writing, and communication skills
-
Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance
-
Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and innovative teaching approaches
-
Contribute to the wider college community and ongoing professional development
Essential Requirements:

Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)

Strong subject knowledge in English up to GCSE level
-
Experience teaching GCSE English and/or Functional Skills English, ideally within a further education setting

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A genuine passion for supporting students from diverse backgrounds
Desirable:

Experience working in further education or adult learning

Ability to inspire and motivate learners with creative and inclusive teaching strategies
