The Supply Register is recruiting an experienced A Level Philosophy, Ethics & Religion Lecturer to support Newcastle College from February 2026 until May Half Term. This is a part-time, temporary opportunity, delivering A Level Philosophy, Ethics and Religion, with a focus on Buddhism.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and academically rigorous lessons to A Level learners, supporting their progress and exam preparation during a key stage of the academic year.
Key responsibilities include:

Delivering A Level Philosophy, Ethics & Religion lessons, with a focus on Buddhism

Planning and preparing high-quality teaching and learning materials

Assessing learner work and providing constructive feedback

Supporting learner progress, achievement, and exam readiness
-
Maintaining accurate records of attendance, assessment, and progress
-
Working collaboratively with curriculum and academic teams
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
-
Experience delivering A Level Philosophy, Ethics and/or Religious Studies
-
Strong subject knowledge, particularly in Buddhism
-
Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent), or significant relevant teaching experience
-
Excellent communication and classroom management skills
-
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable:
-
Experience teaching within a Further Education or sixth form setting
-
Familiarity with current A Level specifications
