Land-Based Engineering Lecturer

The Supply Register is working in partnership with Education Partnership North East (EPNE) to recruit Land-Based Engineering Lecturers for Northumberland College, based at the fantastic Kirkley Hall Campus.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to make the move from industry into Further Education, sharing your practical knowledge and experience with students preparing for careers in the agricultural and land-based engineering sector.

What will you be teaching?

You’ll be delivering practical and theory-based learning across Land-Based Engineering, working with students who are developing the skills needed to work with modern agricultural machinery.

Northumberland College’s Land-Based Engineering provision covers areas including:

  • Agricultural machinery servicing and maintenance
  • Engines, transmissions and drivelines
  • Hydraulics and vehicle electrics
  • Fabrication, cutting and joining
  • Workshop practices and diagnostics
  • Machinery operation
  • Health & safety
  • GPS technology, robotics and precision farming systems

Students have access to specialist workshops and real land-based machinery, creating an environment where your industry experience can make a genuine difference.

‍ Who are we looking for?

We’re particularly interested in hearing from experienced Land-Based / Agricultural Engineers with hands-on experience working with:

  • Tractors
  • Combine harvesters
  • Agricultural trailers
  • Agricultural machinery and equipment
  • Hydraulic and mechanical systems
  • Vehicle electrics and diagnostics
  • Modern agricultural technology

You don’t necessarily need to have spent your career in education. If you have strong industry experience and the ability to engage and support learners, this could be an excellent opportunity to make the transition into teaching.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • A Level 5 teaching qualification – highly desirable
  • Relevant industry qualifications in Land-Based Engineering / Agricultural Engineering
  • Level 2 or equivalent in English & Maths
  • Strong practical industry experience within agricultural or land-based engineering
  • Experience working with modern agricultural machinery
  • Previous FE teaching or training experience would be advantageous
  • A genuine passion for developing the next generation of engineers

Northumberland College provides specialist workshops, farmland and practical learning environments, with students gaining hands-on experience with agricultural machinery and equipment.

Salary / Rate Competitive salary / hourly rate depending on experience and qualifications.
