About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join the supportive and forward-thinking team at Lightcliffe School in Halifax. This is a full-time position ideal for a teacher who is enthusiastic about inspiring students through practical learning, nutrition education, creativity, and innovation within the Food Technology curriculum.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop confidence, independence, and essential culinary skills in a safe and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons that engage and challenge students.
- Teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5 experience desirable but not essential).
- Support students in developing practical cooking skills, nutritional knowledge, and food preparation techniques.
- Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Maintain a safe, hygienic, and organised kitchen/classroom environment in line with health and safety regulations.
- Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities within the department.
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Has experience teaching Food Technology in a secondary school setting.
- Demonstrates strong subject knowledge in food preparation, nutrition, and health and safety practices.
- Is passionate about practical learning and student achievement.
- Has strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Works well as part of a collaborative team.
