The Supply Register is delighted to be recruiting an English Teacher to support Carlisle College on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced English specialist with a background in GCSE and/or Functional Skills delivery to join a supportive Further Education environment.
The Role
You will deliver high-quality English teaching to post-16 learners, supporting them to develop confidence, skills, and qualifications in GCSE and Functional Skills English. You will play a key role in helping students achieve positive outcomes and progress in their education and future careers.
Key responsibilities include:

Delivering engaging GCSE and Functional Skills English lessons

Planning and preparing high-quality teaching and learning materials

Assessing learner progress and providing constructive feedback

Supporting students with varying abilities to achieve their goals

Maintaining accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement

Working collaboratively with curriculum teams to support learner success
Requirements
Essential:
-
Experience teaching GCSE and/or Functional Skills English
-
Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
-
Strong classroom management and communication skills
-
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
-
Ability to start immediately
Desirable:
-
Experience within a Further Education or post-16 setting
-
Track record of supporting learner achievement and progression
