Lecturer & Programme Lead – Early Years

Location: Sunderland College – Bede Campus
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Initially until 16 October 2026, with potential for extension
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Salary/Rate: Competitive hourly rate, dependent on experience

The Supply Register is currently recruiting on behalf of Sunderland College for an experienced Lecturer & Programme Lead – Early Years to join their team at the Bede Campus.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Early Years/Childcare professional with teaching experience to work within a Further Education setting, delivering engaging and supportive teaching to learners.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering Level 1 NCFE Childcare & Early Years, teaching two classes of approximately 16 learners.

The role consists of:

  • 24 hours per week of teaching/contact time
  • 13 hours per week of paid planning, preparation and other duties
  • Monday–Friday working pattern
  • Supporting learners with their development, progress and achievement
  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons appropriate to the level and needs of learners
  • Working as part of the wider curriculum team

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • A Level 4 qualification or above in Early Years, Childcare or a related subject
  • Relevant industry experience within Early Years/Childcare
  • A Level 5 teaching qualification is preferred
  • Level 2 English and Maths
  • Previous teaching, training or lecturing experience
  • The ability to engage and motivate learners and create a positive learning environment
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate registered to the Update Service
