The Supply Register is recruiting on behalf of Newcastle College for an HE Counselling Lecturer to join the Higher Education team on an ongoing temporary basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified counselling professional with a passion for education to support the delivery of Higher Education Counselling programmes. As an HE Counselling Lecturer, you will deliver engaging and inclusive teaching that supports students in developing the theoretical knowledge, ethical understanding, and practical skills required for a career in counselling.
The Role
As an HE Counselling Lecturer, you will:

Deliver high-quality teaching across Higher Education Counselling programmes

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and inclusive evening sessions

Support students to develop counselling theory, professional practice, and reflective skills
-
Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback
-
Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement
-
Create a positive, supportive, and professional learning environment
-
Support learners to achieve their academic and professional goals
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
-
Relevant qualification in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Counselling Psychology, or a related discipline
-
Professional counselling experience
-
Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
-
Passion for supporting adult learners within Higher Education
-
Commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and learning
Desirable:
-
Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET, DTLLS, or equivalent)
-
Membership or accreditation with a recognised professional body (e.g. BACP, UKCP, NCPS)
-
Previous experience teaching within Higher Education or Further Education
-
Experience delivering Higher Education Counselling programmes
-
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
