About the Role

As Lecturer & Programme Leader – Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump disciplines, while contributing to the development and success of the programme.

You will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging practical and theoretical RACHP lessons.
  • Support learners to achieve their qualifications and progress into employment or further study.
  • Develop and update curriculum materials to reflect current industry standards and employer expectations.
  • Assess learner work and monitor progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Ensure practical teaching is delivered safely and in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to continually improve teaching, learning and resources.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and wider departmental initiatives.
  • Support strong relationships with employers and industry.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable RACHP professional who is passionate about their industry and keen to share their experience with learners.

You will ideally have:

  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant industry subject.
  • English and Maths Level 2 or equivalent.
  • A Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent, or a commitment to complete this within your first two years.
  • A Level 3 Assessor qualification, or a commitment to complete this.
  • Proven industry experience in refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps.
  • Experience delivering practical and theoretical training.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible, adaptable and solutions-focused approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting learner welfare.

Experience of working with apprentices and employers, along with knowledge of apprenticeship standards and end-point assessment, would be advantageous.

New to Teaching?

If you’re currently working in the RACHP industry and considering a move into Further Education, this could be an excellent opportunity to make that transition.

Eligible industry professionals may be able to access the Taking Teaching Further (TTF) programme, providing a funded route into FE teaching.

There may also be eligibility for the Government’s Targeted Retention Incentive, with payments of up to £6,000 available to eligible teachers in certain shortage subjects and regions.

Eligibility for these schemes varies depending on the role, subject area and individual circumstances.
