Work Experience Coach – Expression of Interest

The Supply Register is currently building a bank of Work Experience Coaches to support Newcastle College with current and upcoming opportunities. This is an expression of interest, ideal for candidates seeking temporary, flexible, or future roles within a Further Education environment.
The Role
As a Work Experience Coach, you will support learners in securing and completing meaningful work placements aligned to their course and career aspirations. Roles may be linked to specific curriculum areas, such as Travel & Tourism, Business, Health & Social Care, Construction, or other vocational subject areas, depending on college needs.
In addition to placement coordination, the role will involve delivering tutoring sessions, supporting learners with employability skills, placement preparation, and reflective learning linked to their work experience.
Key responsibilities may include:

Supporting learners to source, prepare for, and complete work experience placements

Delivering group and/or 1:1 tutoring sessions focused on employability, workplace skills, and progression

Building and maintaining relationships with local employers relevant to curriculum pathways

Completing safeguarding, health & safety, and compliance checks

Monitoring learner progress during placements and addressing any issues

Supporting learners with CV writing, interview preparation, and workplace expectations

Maintaining accurate records and reports in line with college requirements
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
-
Experience working with young people or adults in education, employability, or support roles
-
Confidence delivering 1:1 or small group tutoring sessions
-
Strong communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills
-
Understanding of safeguarding and learner wellbeing
-
Confidence engaging with employers and external stakeholders
-
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable:
-
Experience within a Further Education or post-16 setting
-
Experience supporting work experience, employability, or careers provision
-
Knowledge of specific vocational sectors (e.g. Business, Travel & Tourism, Health & Social Care, Construction)

Understanding of local labour markets
