The Supply Register is currently building a bank of Catering Assistants to support the Catering Department at Newcastle College. This is an expression of interest, ideal for candidates looking for flexible, temporary work assisting within a busy Further Education catering environment.
The Role
As a Catering Assistant, you will support the college catering department with the smooth day-to-day running of food service areas. Working as part of an established team, you will help ensure students, staff, and visitors receive an efficient and welcoming service.
Key responsibilities may include:

Assisting the catering team with general kitchen and service duties

Supporting with the serving of food and drinks
-
Helping to keep kitchen and dining areas clean and tidy

Assisting with basic food preparation as directed

Clearing tables and maintaining service areas

Supporting with stock movement and replenishment
-
Following food hygiene, health & safety, and college procedures
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
-
A helpful, flexible approach and willingness to support the catering team

Good communication and customer service skills

Ability to work in a busy environment

Understanding of basic food hygiene and health & safety
-
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable:
-
Experience in catering, hospitality, or customer service

Food Hygiene Certificate
-
Experience within a school, college, or large catering setting
