While our work has been particularly focused on the primary and secondary markets, we are also expanding into the further education recruitment sector in 2025, with a range of tailored workforce solutions designed to support colleges with their staffing.
Further education recruitment in 2025
We are proud to announce our first further education (FE) partnership is with NCG, a prestigious group comprised of seven renowned colleges in Newcastle, Carlisle, West Lancashire, Kidderminster, Lewisham, and Southwark. We will become the establishment’s partner of choice for workforce and supply chain management, which reflects our expertise in education recruitment and opens an exciting new chapter in our journey and a strategic evolution in our service offering.
We will remain focused on providing outstanding levels of service to the primary and secondary markets, however, our work in FE will vary in some respects from our traditional day-to-day activities, which will enable us to meet the unique requirements of this particular field. There will of course still be the need for immediate and short-term staffing solutions, but in FE these are generally more limited. As a result, we anticipate that our activities will be more focused on finding longer-term, or permanent roles in niche areas for specialists to provide extended support, rather than on day-to-day resourcing.
The specific staffing requirements in our new market will also naturally differ from the primary and secondary fields that we have historically focused on. In FE, there is a greater blend of online and in-person learning, meaning specialists must have expertise in both classroom and digital learning.
Equally, in further education, teachers also often require a combination of subject knowledge and tangible industry experience, with some positions needing specialists to hold a Level 3 Qualification in their area of expertise. These heightened requirements also benefit teaching specialists. Working in this field offers less rigidity than in primary and secondary education, with greater potential to balance work with a diverse and dynamic lifestyle, enabling educators to pursue hobbies and passions in conjunction with teaching.
But why are we making the move into further education recruitment?
Firstly, we recognised the need for a specialist partner able to provide solutions to further education establishments. The broader range of subjects that many colleges offer means that there is often a requirement for specialists in niche, hard-to-fill roles, which we will utilise our headhunting capabilities to fill for our partners.
This is also a market on the up, with student numbers growing by around 4% year-on-year, meaning there are significant opportunities for establishments and educators alike. The expansion into further education is the natural progression of our work in the broader education sector and means we can apply our deep knowledge of workforce management to this dynamic and demanding field. Our rapidly expanding team of consultants is already formed of several specialists with further education expertise and knowledge, reflecting our ability to provide the best possible service to institutions from day one.
Our managing director, Baljinder Kuller, commented on our move into the FE market.
“I’m thrilled to share that The Supply Register has secured a significant client partnership with Newcastle College Group, marking our first step into the further education sector. This is a milestone moment for us, and I couldn’t be prouder of the team’s efforts to make this happen. With many of our colleagues bringing extensive pre-existing experience from the FE sector, we’re confident in our ability to deliver exceptional service tailored to the unique requirements of this space.
“Our commitment remains steadfast, whether in FE, schools, or MATs: To continue delivering better workforce management and to achieve cost savings through managed services. This partnership reinforces our belief that understanding and meeting diverse client needs is key to building lasting relationships. We look forward to supporting Newcastle College Group on this exciting journey.”
The Supply Register’s expansion into this new field marks an exciting new chapter in our mission to support all educational institutions with tailored workforce solutions, and our partnership with NCG represents only the beginning of a journey in the further education market.
