SEN Teaching Assistant – Widnes Academy (The Supply Register Partnership)

Location: Widnes, Cheshire
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time
Employment Type: Temporary (with potential for long-term placement)

Widnes Academy, in proud partnership with The Supply Register, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school community where every child is valued and nurtured.


✨ About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them access the curriculum and positively engage in learning. You will collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and wider staff to ensure pupils’ individual needs are met.


✨ Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs

  • Assist with personalised learning plans and targeted interventions

  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social skills

  • Work alongside the class teacher to deliver inclusive and engaging learning

  • Promote a positive, nurturing, and safe learning environment

  • Liaise with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals when required


✨ Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with SEN (Autism, ADHD, ASC, SEMH, or other needs)

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one

  • SEN/Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential
